Lorge is pro-life, opposed to gun control, and supports border protection. He opposes capital punishment.
Lorge agrees with the mainstream Republican party in that he is pro-life, anti-gun control and for border protection. However, due to his many years of practicing law, he opposes capital punishment. Lorge is credited with being the original author of the plan adopted by Democrat U. S. Senator Joe Biden's 2007 Presidential Campaign to divide Iraq into 3 to 5 provinces in order to achieve peace and stability amongst the Kurds in Kurdistan, the Sunnis in the Sunni Triangle and the Shiite majority in the south, as well as a trans-Saudi-Jordanian nation in the Anbar province region and making the Baghdad metro area into a separate state. Lorge is credited with being the first to propose 100% tax credits to fund higher education and healthcare.
Lorge's campaign ads were featured in the National News Media, such as ABC, NBC and CBS as being innovative by mixing humor and special effects with positive issue ads as opposed the current trend of negative suppression political advertising. Lorge was the only U.S. Senate candidate in 2006 to deliver votes for under $1 since the McCain-Feingold campaign reform era. Lorge comes from a large and extended political heritage, his father Gerald D. Lorge was one of the longest serving Wisconsin State Senators and his brother William served as a Wisconsin Representative for 10 years.
Lorge was born in New London, Wisconsin. He spent several years studying abroad at European institutions, the Albert Ludwigs Institute and Universitat Freiburg Germany and Lancaster University in England, before returning to complete his degrees at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Marquette University Law School. Lorge has both a Juris Doctor and a zoology degree in Pre-Medicine. Lorge is the owner of Capital Hill Farms, Lorge Honeybees, and is the President of Welcome Company.
